How to Figure the General Service Single Phase Rate

Base Rate

Customer Charge:                 $8.29
Energy Charge:
  The First 1000 KWH        $0.06988
  The Next 2500 KWH        $0.06144
  All Above 3500 KWH       $0.05685

Example

Suppose you used 8000 KWH.

  1. Your bill would start with the $8.29 customer charge.
  2. Your first 1000 KWH would be multiplied by $0.06988, which would be $69.88.
  3. Your next 2500 KWH would be multiplied by $0.06144, which would be $153.6.
  4. All above 3500 KWH would be multiplied by $0.05685, which would be $198.98.
  5. You base cost would be the total of these charges plus sales tax.

Tracker

In addition to the base rate charge there is arate adjustment based upon the cost of purchased power. This can be a positive or negative figure. Because this changes every three months, it is not used in the example. We call this the tracker
