Meter Damage

Anderson Municipal Light & Power, for residential services, owns the Overhead or Underground service line as well as the electric meter

Residential customers of Anderson Municipal Light & Power are responsible for the attachment hardware, weatherhead, riser, and meter box. A licensed electrician should be used to do this installation of a new or updated service.

Please keep in mind:

  1. If the meter box is pulled away from the house and there is no power to the home, the homeowner is responsible for contacting an electrician for a permenant fix. There may be a case where an inspection is required before Anderson Municipal Light & Power will be able to re-connnect the service. The electrician should know the steps involved to be reconnected.
  2. If the meter box is pulled away from the house and the home has power, the customer should call a licensed electrician to re-attach the meter box again. An inspection may be necessary for power to be fully restored.
